Both in the UK and now France there are a lot of businesses using premium phone lines for their customer services telephone number. This is quite out of order if you need to call customer services because they have let you down somehow and then you have to pay for the call.
Luckily there are usually normal geographic numbers that you can call instead of the premium rate lines and still get the same service.
In the UK check out SayNoTo0870.com
If France have a look at GeoNumbers.com
It looks like GeoNumbers have had the frightners put on them by the big French telco’s there is an alternative site called Radins which is a bit clunky and doesnt have a massive set of numbers, but might get better with use.

Apparently we receive an average of 40kg of junk mail in our post boxes here in France every year. We can all do our bit for the environment and cut down on this mail by putting a ‘Stop-Pub’ sticker on our post boxes.
You can try and get a sticker from your local Marie, roughly 50% of them have them.
Or ask at the checkout in your supermarket, most of them have them.
Or go to the ecologie.gouv.fr website and print one out from there.
Or go to the universnature.com website and order one from there.

As I trawl through the IT world over here in France I sometimes come across things that I think might be of some interest to my clients. I am going to start posting these things here on this blog as a useful information source.
